Job Description: The successful candidate will develop technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems related to the design, integration and test of electrical subsystems that will be integrated into directed energy products. This position requires complete understanding and wide application of technical theories and concepts in the electrical engineering field and related disciplines. The candidate will work under limited supervision while determining and developing independent solutions to meet overall design objectives. This position requires frequent interaction and coordination with mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, scientists, and external customers. Using a variety of software systems and tools, the candidate will design and test high voltage power electronics, battery modules, control systems, pulsed power systems, and supporting electrical systems for directed energy products. Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Electrical design of components in pulsed power and high power microwave systems Microwave tubes Vacuum systems Oil circulation Pressurized gas systems Control systems Platform interfaces Analysis of pulsed power and high power microwave system components’ electrical performance Voltage hold off Current draw Field strengths Circuit analysis Verify the electrical performance of components in pulsed power and high power microwave systems through simulation, testing and inspection Required Education/Experience: 4+ years experience in electrical design, analysis and testing Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance Desired Skills/Experience: Specific experience in high power microwave systems, pulsed power and HPM system experimentation and data analyses, diagnostic instrumentation and vacuum equipment Specific experience working with high voltage (greater than 5 kV) components Master of Science or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or equivalent Ability to work independently and be a self-starter Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team setting Strong written and oral communication skills including the ability to present material to customers Experience with Altium, OrCad, PSpice and/or ANSYS Maxwell.
