A total of 5-7 years of experience relevant to this position including 2 years consulting experience is preferred. An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience is required including product or technical expertise relevant to practice focus. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required including the ability to build rapport with team members and clients. Ability to travel with short notice as needed.
The Principal Business (Functional) Consultant is a member of the implementation team responsible for the successful delivery of our retail application solutions to clients. This position may be both a team lead and an individual contributor on projects. The role requires hands on application and retail business process skills in addition to the ability to translate business requirements into business and configuration designs. The consultant must be passionate about creating best-in-class solutions for Oracle Retail customers.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Leads ORC and Retail Client teams in the gathering of business requirements related to PSO retail software offerings and understands how the client s business process will integrate with our software application
Conducts Conceptual/Detailed Design Sessions to review the client s business process, organization structure, KPIs and assists in determining how best to use Oracle Retail Solutions to meet the client s changing business needs
Navigates client relationships and implementation challenges to ensure that Oracle Retail solutions meet the needs of our clients
Translates business needs to configuration specifications while partnering with the application (configuration) and technical consultant
Creates and coordinates the documentation of Application Requirements Package (ARP)
Documents designs for non-standard requirements as well as developing other required project documentation including presentations and functional examples
Functions as primary point of contact for project team on both business process and functional support
Provides leadership to project team and understands project impact of functional issues
Ensures best practices are being followed and guides other team resources to complete tasks according to plan
Develops test cases and executes the unit tests for the configuration against application or business specifications
Estimates project construction effort once requirements are gathered including customer effort
manages multiple part-time projects
Identifies and mitigates implementation risks
Demonstrate technical competency in Microsoft applications and other planning solutions/applications; reflect willingness to learn and adapt to new technology.
Demonstrate advanced Retail subject matter knowledge of relevant implementation processes
Provides recommendations on best or common practices on business process design within the scope of the project and in accordance with the specific Oracle Retail solutions in use
Provides strategic guidance to teammates on internal and external test strategy, plans and scripts; client training; User Acceptance Testing; and defect resolution, if necessary

Experience working at customer sites
Experience with large-scale software implementations including customization of product to meet client requirements
Experience with retail industry software and data models strongly preferred
Knowledge and experience in implementing solutions for on-premise or cloud environments
Relevant undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Deep knowledge of Retail Math
Deep knowledge of Retail business processes related to financial, item and assortment planning
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong understanding of software development and implementation methodology
Experience in implementing SaaS/Cloud solutions
Base understanding of replenishment and forecasting processes
