Job Summary: Zel Technologies is seeking candidates for a Nuclear Weapons Effects Expert position to support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) Research & Development Directorate (RD). The successful candidate will help in identifying and conducting innovative, operationally focused CWMD and other asymmetric threat-related research, development, test, and evaluation (RDT&E) in order to deliver products and services to combatant commanders (CCDRs), the Military Services, and DTRA. The System Engineering and Integration (SE&I) support provided to the Research & Development Directorate (RD) Test Science and Technology Department (RDTS) ensures effective program execution from technical management to test operational support. RDTS, located at Kirtland Air Force Base (AFB), New Mexico (NM), also maintains mobile test capabilities and operates permanent test sites at Kirtland AFB; White Sands Missile Range (WSMR), NM; and Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), Nevada (NV). The RDTS provides end-to-end test event planning, management, test bed design and construction, pre-test predictions, safe execution, and post-test data analysis.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide review on various sensors, data acquisition technologies, and systems used in nuclear event characterization testing with focus on nuclear air blast, nuclear ground shock, fire ignition, thermal, and dust/debris used in nuclear event characterization testing
Provide review of technical activities including data collection, analysis, and reporting
Develop test plans and methodologies to meet measurement objectives to support DTRA testing and provide post-test assessments to determine diagnostics and system performance, and how well diagnostics met test objectives.
Nuclear weapons effects knowledge
Radiological and Nuclear instrumentation experience
Test plan development
Good interpersonal skills

DTRA Testing Experience desired
EM1 Handbook knowledge and application desired
Analysis of Alternative assessments desired
Capability Based Assessments desired
MS + 10 years experienceORBS + 12 years experience
16+ years experience in lieu of degree
- Must have a current Secret clearance with the ability to acquire a TS clearance and obtain a Special Compartmental Information (SCI) level clearance
