Job Summary Performs the full lifecycle management (analysis, design, development, testing, implementation, integration and maintenance) of multi-user information systems including servers, storage, virtual and cloud infrastructures, and associated components and subsystems. Maintains the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security. Coordinates and interfaces with customers, suppliers, and domain experts such as networking, software, and desktop personnel.

Job Specifications The Component and System Analysis Department (Department 1356) has an opening for a Computing Infrastructure Engineer. The responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to the following:

•Manage the deployment and operation of multi-user multiplatform {UniX/linux. Windows. and Macintosh) information systems including servers. Storage, virtual and cloud infrastructures. and associated components and subsystems for Centers 1300 and 1600.

•Maintain the integrity of servers and systems to meet established requirements for service levels, disaster recovery, business continuity, and security.

• Develop and implement multicenter information technology solutions for needs such as an integrated software development environment.

• Refresh of computing hardware and or software on a regular basis, including planning, deployment and maintenance of latest hardware/software

•Coordinate and interface with customers, suppliers. and domain experts such as networking. software, and desktop personnel.

• Ensuring the data integrity, availability, and preservation of large experimental data sets, Including z. the reactors, other large scale facilities, and light labs.

• Responsive and efficient interfacing between local and corporate computing resources

•Implementation and oversight of security plans for computing resources

Knowledge, Skills, Ability Knowledge of Information systems and lifecycle engineering processes such as requirements engineering, top-level functional designs, lifecycle cost analysis, risk analysis, quality engineering, configuration management, testing, reverse engineering, component Integration, programming, and analysis. Solid understanding of UNIX,LINUX, or Windows Server-based operating systems. Strong skills in server-side application management. Knowledge of software development methodologies, tools, and processes, including software development methodology frameworks; source code control; application development tools and techniques; database design, development, and management; programming languages; and component integration. Knowledge of hardware and operating systems, including system architectures, network infrastructures, and client-server principles. Knowledge of ongoing trends in the information systems hardware field and the ability to understand and work with new and emerging technologies such as virtual technologies and applications in cloud architectures. Knowledge of hardware and software integration and testing. Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective communicator, presenter, and negotiator. Ability to work closely with customers and suppliers, defining expectations and mutual responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications (Required) Requires bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering. Electrical Engineering. or relevant discipline plus entry level experience {up to two years); or master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering. Electrical Engineering. or relevant discipline: or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated system administration experience with the Linux/UNIX operating system, with preference to Red Hat Linux.

Demonstrated attention to detail and commitment to sustaining and advancing high-quality high­

reliability multicenter computing resources and customer support.

Demonstrated ability to work on challenging engineering problems in a fast-paced team environment that requires extensive cross-organizational multi-disciplinary teaming and to be process oriented.

Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and computer skills, with emphasis on

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications (Desired)

Experience administering multiple platforms: Linux, Mac OS X, Solaris/UNIX, and/or Windows,.

Experience in administration of file systems and disk arrays: NFS/CIFS/SAMBA, AutoFS,


Experience in administration of .backup hardware and software systems based on Legato

Networker backup software or equivalent.

Experience in authentication methodologies: Kerberos, LDAP, and/ or PAM. Experience in standup, testing and operation of Linux computational clusters.

Experience in stand up and operation of integrated software development environments.

Knowledge of Cyber Security standards (CSR, ISSO, etc.), NIS and authorization protocols, and experience in security log administration.

Programming experience, including Python and shell scripting.

Linux certifications or equivalent training.

Experience with root over NFS as well as linux setup and performance testing on multicore/cluster systems.
